Scientists have warned that we need to reach&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/environment\/2022\/apr\/04\/ipcc-report-now-or-never-if-world-stave-off-climate-disaster\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">peak greenhouse gas emissions by 2025<\/a>&nbsp;at the latest to stand a chance of keeping global warming to 1.5C compared to pre-industrial levels and to avoid catastrophic effects worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While the 2,913-page report may seem far removed from the world of fashion, it\u2019s not something that can be ignored \u2013 particularly as the industry is currently responsible for between four and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldbank.org\/en\/news\/feature\/2019\/09\/23\/costo-moda-medio-ambiente\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">10 per cent<\/a>&nbsp;of all greenhouse gas emissions globally. \u201cThe report made it clear in no uncertain terms that immediate action is needed,\u201d Maxine B\u00e9dat, executive director of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newstandardinstitute.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">New Standard Institute<\/a>, tells&nbsp;<em>Vogue<\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0latest report\u00a0from the Intergovernmental Panel On Climate Change (IPCC), published last week, makes for bleak reading.
